Belgium-Netherlands-Luxembourg Association for Artificial Intelligence

The NVKI was founded in 1981 by 19 enthousiastic AI-researchers. After an energetic start and a short sleep, the association took new initiatives in 1987. This resulted in the organisation of the NAIC Conferences ("Nederlandstalige AI-Conferenties") in 1988 (Amsterdam), in 1989 (Twente), in 1990 (Kerkrade), in 1991 (Amsterdam), in 1992 (Delft), in 1993 (Twente), in 1994 (Amsterdam) in 1995 (Rotterdam), in 1996 (Utrecht), in 1997 (Antwerpen), in 1998 (Amsterdam), in 1999 (Maastricht), in 2000 (Kaatsheuvel), in 2001 (Amsterdam), in 2002 (Leuven), in 2003 (Nijmegen), in 2004 (Groningen), in 2005 (Brussels), in 2006 (Namur), in 2007 (Utrecht), and in 2008 (Enschede), the organisation of the ECAI (European Conference on Artificial Intelligence), and in the bi-monthly NVKI-Newsletter. In 1998, the Dutch and the Belgian AI Associations merged. The NVKI was renamed to BNVKI and the newsletter became the BNVKI Newsletter. Since 2002 (Utrecht), the BNVKI organises a yearly symposium for students, called the BNAIS.

BNAICs

The BNAIC is the Belgium Dutch Conference on Artificial Intelligence and is one of the main activities of the BNVKI. The main goals of the BNAIC are two-fold: The format of the BNAIC is therefore a mixture of a meeting place and a forum for good-quality research results. This forms a balance that has proven to be successful in the previous years, as is shown by the high number of participants each year.

The BNAIC has a regulation for submitting research papers, distinguishing between 2 categories of papers.

For more information on past and future BNAICS, see http://www.bnaic.org.
